2 weeks ago marked the 16th annual ‘Electronic Daisy Carnival,’ which is the largest EDM festival in the United States, and DJhere was there for your full coverage.
Stressing the fact of the total ‘experience,’ Insomniac Events raised the bar this year. Offering more rides, more attractions, better visuals, and more ‘rave’ oriented music, it brought together 100s of the worlds best DJs and a sold out show to over 100,000 people per day.
The downer of the event without a doubt was the weather. The first day saw breezes reaching around 20 mph; however, the 2nd day brought gusts reaching 50+ mph by around midnight, and most of the stages were shut down by around 1am Sunday morning where they tried to corral almost 100,000 people into the grand stands and grass field of the speedway. This precaution turned out to be the best idea everyone. Earlier this year, a stage at a Sugarland concert collapsed killing 5 people, and last week a stage collapsed at a Radiohead concert killing one worker. And the last thing EDM needed was a stage collapsing killing hundred of zombie’d young people.
However, the 3rd night came in with absolute clear skies and barely any breeze. Some of the winners of the Festival included favorites like Hardwell, Kaskade, Afrojack, Dada Life, Above & Beyond, Alesso, and the entire Q-Dance stage.
