Thursday: PENDULUM (DJ SET) w/ BRASS FERGIE opening @ VOYEUR – 04/26/12
Pendulum is anAustralian formed band whose members include Knife Party’s Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillen, and Paul Harding. Swire was part of a metal band with McGrillen known as Xygen. After hearing Konflict’s “Messiah” at a club, they were inspired to enter into the drum and bass genre. Pendulum came to birth when they hooked up with Paul, who was already holding it down in the drum and bass movement.

While Hold Your Colour holds true to the drum and bass genre, Pendulum have since experimented with mixing other genres into their work, as can be heard on In Silico and their newest release, Immersion. This transition can only add to the ever-growing popularity of the Pendulum name.

All I know is that whenever I get the chance to see these guys live, I TAKE IT! Swire has released multiple statements about Pendulum being on hiatus…the most recent being January of this year. Get your tickets quickly…it might just be the show of your lifetime!

I honestly haven’t a clue what is really going to happen this Sunday, Dec. 4, at Guesthouse inside Stingaree, but based upon what little I do know about the event that Guesthouse @ Stingaree, DJhere, and DDj Presents have been rather tight-lipped about since its inception, I can say I’m fucking pissed I won’t be there to enjoy it. That’s right, I will be out of town for a work trip — not photography, but real work, mind you — and thus missing out on what should prove to be an event of epic proportions. (Under normal circumstances, I loathe the word “epic,” however, in this instance, I utilized the adjective to modify “proportions,” thereby eliminating the opportunity for you to label me a hypocrite.) And since most of you probably haven’t a clue what the fuck I just wrote, let’s simply leave it as, this Sunday is going to be nothing short of radical beyond all comprehensible belief. Better?

What is this radical event, you ask? Well, it is the launch of what will otherwise be known as the Guesthouse Day Club — GHDC for short. And in a nutshell, it’s going to be controlled chaos, managed mayhem, a structured shit show. It’s day club meets nightclub, and all clubs in-between. Take one part Intervention, one part Sidebar, a whole shitload of Sting and Guesthouse, and throw in a bit of carnival for good measure, and you might come close to creating what the guys and girls at Stingaree/Guesthouse, DJhere, and DDj Presents have put together.

There will be circus acts, champagne showers, cryo guns (whatever the fuck those are), confetti canons, a whole bunch of neon, strobes, DJ’s, enough booze to satiate Ireland’s entire population, and delicious hors d’oeuvres (or as I like to call them, “snacky cakes”). It’s “Sunday funday” on an entirely new level, and one that you certainly don’t want to miss.

Talent for the GHDC will be none other than Sex Panther, and local San Diego DJ’s Erick Diaz, Adam Salter, and Gabe Vega. The latter three I don’t doubt you’re already familiar with, however, if you’ve yet to check out Sex Panther’s live set, this Sunday at Stingaree will be the place to do so.
