By: Erika Anderson

I know we have been hearing/talking about it all week since its creation…but I didn’t expect to witness and do all the things that I did in those five short hours of Guesthouse Dayclub! This was definitely a party of epic proportions, and everyone who was involved in the making deserves a HUGE pat on the back. My particular experience was one involving a shitload of champagne, confetti throwers, and sight-blinding neon…basically, the raddest party I have attended since the famed Interventions of summer. Do I see a new winter Sunday trend starting? YES, and one with staying power

We started off the day by being welcomed by stilt walkers at the front entrance of Guesthouse. We were immediately let in, and sat at our table just in time for the food to be walked out by gorgeous girls wearing serving trays…which by the way, the food is AMAZING! Mini breakfast burritos, fruit and yogurt parfaits, and macerated blueberries…YUM! The best part? It was free!

After we all felt full enough to start tackling the bottles, the real fun started to happen. All I really can do to explain what the hell happened is just list the series of random events I actually remember occurring:

1) Me getting lost SEVERAL times in the fully packed house.
2) My boss walking around in an elephant head and feet with a cryo gun backpack.
3) SEX PANTHER dropping ice-scooper vodka shots straight into peoples mouths from the DJ booth.
4) Confetti. EVERYWHERE!
5) Stilt walkers literally dancing and partying amongst us.
6) There were people taking beer bongs from the mezzanine!
7) Ronnie Magro from Jersey Shore made a special appearance, and joined us in the bottle-popping celebration.
8 ) There were bubbles being constantly blown all over the crowd all day!
9) The tasty drink mixers that made the drinks basically taste like fruit…love it when that happens.
10) Seeing ALL of my friends and co-workers show up in one spot to support and party!

Writing all of this out actually makes me excited for next Sunday…and I’m still hungover from yesterday. If that doesn’t explain how crazy/insane/ridiculous/fun/memorable this party experience is, then I honestly don’t know what is wrong with you.

Guesthouse/Stingaree, DJhere, DDJ, and Night Access rocked the house hard yesterday…and we hope that all of you left with the same feeling. We welcome you to come back to Guesthouse every Sunday this winter…HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE!

He’s one of the reasons you keep coming back for more & more & MORE! Part of the DJhere family for the last year and a San Diego video extraordinaire, is our very own Mac Nguyen! This month we’re celebrating his 33rd birthday, so we decided to sit down with him and give our friends the personal scoop behind the brains of this extremely talented and creative professional.

A: Mac how long have you been doing videography and what sparked your interest?

M: For the last 15 years. The last five with clubs and events.

A: What’s your favorite type of videos to shoot and why?

M: My favorite is to shoot skateboarding. I don’t anymore because the industry is TOO saturated and diluted.

A: If you had a dream profession in videography, who would you be working for and what type of content would you be producing?

M: Music videos. Working with a singer/band and create a video reflecting the song.

A: What is the most difficult thing about what you do?

M: Club Filming. Difficult working in an environment where the lighting rapidly changes on you and must adjust to those situations.

A: Do you find it hard to balance working and picking up side projects?

M: All the time. I often verbally say how difficult it is. Then I make it known to myself to change that and time it right so it works.

A: What would be your dream project?

M: Having a group of sound minded people to work together a goal and change the way people look at clubs and enhance the experience in and out of the night clubs or events.

Brought to you exclusively by, Anastacia Waller

If you’ve attended any DJhere event in the past three years, chances are either myself, Bradley Schweit, or my counterpart, Mr. Devin Kiyoshi White, have shoved our respective cameras in your face at one point or another. And if you happened to be inebriated beyond the point of recollection, I’m the shorter, bearded Irishman and he’s the taller (and much more handsome) half-Asian fellow with a rapist wit.

Nightlife, however, represents a mere sliver of the photographic endeavors Devin and I embark upon on a regular basis. Being the music aficionados we are, not to mention sharing a profound affinity for punk rock, we’ve acquired quite the band portfolio since he and I began pursuing photography as a profession not so long ago.

Some of the more established acts we’ve shot include Face to Face, Unwritten Law, The Briggs, NOFX, Bad Religion, Saosin, Millencolin, Strata, Guttermouth, Pinback and a slew of local bands here in San Diego and abroad. In short, if we’re not battling the Assliction- and Ed Farty-wearing masses on a given weekend night, we’re likely front and center at a local music venue, training our lenses upon musicians who most certainly don’t play that which our ears are bombarded with at any and all nightclubs.

That’s not to say Devin and I don’t also have a veritable laundry list of DJ photos to our credit, however. Hell, building one’s DJ photo portfolio is an impossibility when shooting nightlife. Nearly every trip to Voyeur alone has yielded at least one or two portfolio-worthy images of a number of A-list DJ talent.

That said, I’ve spent the better part of the past six months gathering and uploading those images to my new(ish) website, bradleyis.com, and Devin has been busting his ass doing the same for his domain, kiyoshiphoto.com. Both showcase our talents and abilities outside the nightlife arena; and you’ll find images ranging from artistic still lifes to landscape images, wedding photography and essentially anything we’ve encountered that has served to inspire or motivate us to improve our craft. Oh yeah, there’s nightlife, too…

And let’s not forget Mr. James Norton, either. He’s the predecessor not only to both Devin and I, but also the slew of nightlife photographers that have emerged from the woodwork these past few years. Due to a recent accident, he’s been out of the game for a spell, but don’t doubt he’ll be back full force with DJhere once he makes a full recovery. In the meantime, you can view his soul-stealing endeavors at shootnorton.com.

And there you have it… The next time you see us, perhaps you’ll have a better understanding of who we are and what we do. And if you’re interested in booking us literally for any event/occasion (as we’ve shot everything you can possibly imagine), don’t hesitate to shoot us an e-mail at the addresses listed on our respective sites. Or feel free to drop me a line at bradley@djhere.com, or contact Devin at devin@djhere.com. We’re sort of a (big) package deal…
