New Nixon Watches

Here is a new watch out by Nixon, they are calling it the Newton. It has a very simple, cool design with an interesting watch face, it might be kind of hard to tell time with this watch but I’d rock it as long is it matched my kicks. hand drawn pictures

in these strange economic times it occurred to me that we should take pictures, hand drawn preferably, as currency. meaning, say your friend owes you $20 and hasn’t paid you back in a while. accepting a hand drawn picture from them might give you not only solace that they had to stop and think about what to draw, but the pleasure of them having to draw it … for you. and who the hell can draw anymore anyway; they’ll probably want to give you the $20. don’t accept it. below is a picture i accepted in lieu of a round of drinks i bought a VERY good friend of mine – totally worth it.

El Camino

let me start by giving you a warning – don’t listen to Yelp.  people
tell the truth on there about as often as Bush’s press secretary…
now that we got that out of the way, CHECK OUT EL CAMINO in north
park.  we are a little bummed to give up one of our secret spots, but
this place is really cool. from the jesus candles to the glowing wall
of virgin marys, this place is over-the-top Mexican kitch.  it is the
luchadore of restaurants.  it pays homage to everything that is
weirdly awesome about Mexico and the beloved El Camino  - that
car/truck hybrid that we all know and love. its located at Juniper and
Fern and serves great Mexican food as well as beer and wine.  one word
- GO.  lastly, i want to give mad props to Mauricio who was one of the
creators of the original Ole Madrid, Airport Lounge and El Camino.
he’s also the reason why i, matt, am in this business.  i am in
constant awe of his style, creativity and execution.  he makes cool
shit in this city happen.  my hat is off to  him – always.

These Trixy platform pumps in tan print ponyskin from Brian Atwood
make me want to get a sex change. be careful, with these bad boys, I
recommend a plain dress or some calm (but hot) jeans – that’s the way
to go as THESE are the fashion statement. take heed and remember, with
great power (these shoes) comes great responsibility (Spiderman 1,
Circa 2002).

Here’s what Kanye said about 808s today via a conference call from the UK:

“I created a thing I call Heartbreak. It’s like a mixed drink of auto tune, distortion with a little bit of delay on it, and a whole bunch of life that I put onto records. That’s what I call my heartbreak, and that’s what every record basically has. I’m delivering what I feel is art and that’s what I want to deliver at this point from now on. With records like “Love Lockdown”, it might not have high hats and s**t like everything else has, but when I go out and be listening to Jimi Hendrix and the Stones and Lenny Kravitz, and they won’t play no Hip Hop records in that. I feel like n***as be giving up on trying to make records on a Quincy Jones level.“
